一、基本意思不同：

1、cease : 指逐渐、徐徐中止某种状态的存百在。书面用词。

2、halt : 侧重突然地、决定性地终止、停止某一活动。度

二、知词性不同：

1、cease：可以接名词，也可以接动词的不定式或动名词。

2、halt：既可作动词、名词，也可作形容词。

三、同道时作动词时，用法不同：

1、当作为动词时，cease后面可以跟to do/doing sth(两者意思差不多，不像stop区别回那么大)

2、当作为动词时，halt后面基本不跟to do/doing sth，其答后一般只跟名词。用来表示停止的意思时，bring sth to a halt，call a halt to sth等短语反而更常见。
